MotoAmerica Silly Season Heats Up Again

2026 MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Bobby Fong

About a fortnight ago the Ducati factory-supported Warhorse/HSBK team got the silly-season started when the news got out that 2026 Supersport Champion Darryn Binder is going to pair with Cameron Beaubier for the team next season.

This week it is Yamaha who released a video to commemorate and thank their current MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Bobby Fong for their time together. The American Superbike Show has been able to confirm that Fong has indeed left the Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha team and signed elsewhere.

The first question is where did Bobby sign? I am very confident that Fong has signed to race with another team in MotoAmerica Superbike in 2027, however, I am not completely certain which team that is.

The second question is who is going to replace Fong on the factory supported Yamaha squad? As of this moment, it would appear that MotoGP race winner Danillo Petrucci has the first choice per an article written by Alex Whitworth on Crash.net.

Petrucci was originally speculated to be Sean Dylan Kelly’s teammate at Orange Cat Racing through a deal with factory BMW but it is believed that that option is now off the table. Danillo now has the choice between returning to MotoAmerica competition for the first time since 2022 or remaining in the Superbike World Championship with the GoEleven Ducati team.

Sean Dylan Kelly finished a close runner-up in the 2026 Superbike Championship. Who will be his teammate in 2027?

A third question is what is the status of the second seat at Orange Cat BMW as SDK’s teammate? It is understood that the reason that factory BMW withdrew the offer to Petrucci was in favor of a different rider. Who is that rider?

We still have a long off-season to go but to start it looks like we are going to have to use that time to start getting used to a lot of familiar faces at new places.
